Come vacation in the Smoky Mountains; one hour west of Asheville, three hours from Atlanta and Charlotte, and two hours from Greenville, Knoxville and Chattanooga.  Bryson City is a small country town in the Great Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina, an unspoiled vacation retreat rich with outdoor activities.  A visit to Bryson City will take you away from the "hustle and bustle" of the city to a quaint little mountain town, but you'll find lots to do in this beautiful little community of less than 2,000 year round residents.  Swain County - Bryson City is the county seat - is home to much of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  Over 40 percent of the Smokies, the worlds most visited national park, can be found in Swain County.  Clingman's Dome, the highest peak in the Great Smokies and the second highest peak in Eastern America, is within the boundaries of Swain County.
